Buckhead Atlanta continues to fill out it’s retail holes, but shoppers already have plenty of dining options. One of the best among them is American Food & Beverage.
Situated at the corner of North Fulton and Buckhead Ave, American Food & Beverage is serving up eclectic american southern fare utilizing fresh ingredients from local farmers…as if you haven’t heard that before. But before you judge, stuff your face with their “Duck Ham and Cheese w/ blueberry mostarda and any preconceived doubts you had will quickly disappear.
Parking is a little bit of a chore, as it is just about anywhere in the area, but you’re rewarded with the smell of smoked meats and wood fired ovens as you enter the front door. If you’re cholesterol is in check, and you want a little something different, start off with an order of the chorizo scotch eggs, they will not disappoint; spicy chorizo and a runny egg encased in a crispy crust.
On a second visit we had the boiled peanut hummus, which I had seen before at some of Hugh Acheson’s establishments. It’s perfect for sharing, and the green tomato relish added a nice amount of kick to the dish.
We also tried a perfectly grilled hanger steak salad that had a nice touch of smokiness from the wood fired grill.
AFB is also a great stop for a casual lunch as they have a plethora of salad and serious sandwich options; yes I used plethora.
AFB is a quality addition to Buckhead and, in my opinion, is one of the better options in the development.
