Lunch Time at Cockentrice!

Do you like mortadella, culatello, pate, and terrine; how about some awesome cheeses? If so, the slimmed down lunch menu at Cockentrice is the spot for you! Cockentrice opened for lunch a few weeks back, (mid April) and as long as you like bahn mi and charcuterie then you will have a blast…because as of last week that’s all that’s on the menu…but I imagine they will be expanding if the demand is there. We opted for the mortadella and a duck pate, served with pickled mushrooms, carrots and spiced raisins; also a heaping supply of grilled bread. This was some of the best charcuterie I have had in a while; not that I’m surprised coming from Mr. Ouzts.

Aside from the charcuterie there were two banh mi options: pork and tofu; I opted for the pork of course. I’m pretty sure this bread comes from Lee’s bakery, which is a good thing if true. Either way, the pork was pretty solid and the slaw added a nice zing. One other thing, the sandwich was huge; the picture below is half…it’s a easily a toddler’s arm who lifts weights.

The sandwiches are served with a healthy side of noodles in a tasty peanut satay sauce.

The lunch did not disappoint, but I look forward to them adding some additional items to the menu beyond the charcuterie. As many have attested, the dinner menu looks amazing, and I have heard nothing but positive reviews.  I have just had too much on my plate to make it down there in the evening, but dinner at The Cockentrice is definitely in my future!
