L’Thai Organic Cuisine & Wine Bar…

The name alone probably confuses most would be patrons, and judging by the sparse crowds at the West Village location (Smyrna), it does. I have been to this location (they have another in Tucker) at least ten times over the past several years, and every time, lunch or dinner, it’s dead…which is sad because the food is pretty good, but on the positive side the meal is very peaceful. L’Thai offers what I would call a Thai/Malaysian mash-up with a variety of curries, noodle dishes and traditional dishes heavy on the vegetable side; you can get just about any type of protein to accompany the dishes; think tiger prawns (shrimp), pork, scallops, grass fed beef, etc.

The menu is quite lengthy and easily weighs over 3 pounds, so it’s best to find your protein section ( or curries which are listed separately) and focus there, otherwise it may take a while. In addition to the entrees, there are roughly 20 appetizers which you should not sleep on. The fried tofu and the fried oysters are pretty solid, and “blanket shrimp” are crispy and served with a spicy sweet and sour.

L’Thai is also very affordable with most dishes at lunch coming in around $10, and dinner around $15. While I can attest to the quality of the food, I cannot comment on the “wine bar” which I have not experienced nor have I ever seen anyone sitting there, especially waiting for a table:) L’ Thai is great for a quick lunch or a quiet dinner if you’re in the area and looking for this type of cuisine.
