Pie in the Sky – Masseria

On a recent trip to the Blue Ridge mountains (NW GA), I stumbled upon a just opened pizza/pasta joint touting wood fired pie and a fully stocked bar, so with no expectations we took the plunge. Classic neapolitan style pizza is all the rage across the country, but in tiny Blue Ridge…I was skeptical at best. When the first margherita pizza hit the table, and the char of the underbelly of the dough hit my lips, I knew I couldn’t have been more wrong. The pizza dough was light and crisp and the ingredients were very high quality.

In addition to the above option, we ordered a pepperoni, a veggie and a meatball parm roll. All were solid and we even ordered two more margheritas they were so good. Similar to Antico, they have a self serve mantra with a communal condiment/ drink (water, tea, lemonade) area sporting olive oil, garlic and my favorite, calabrian chili peppers in oil!

The food was solid, prices were good and service, while minimal, was attentive. If you’re looking for pizza in Blue Ridge, you cannot do any better than Masseria.
