I love Cuban food and am always on the lookout for a good Cuban sandwich. I saw a few signs for the Crazy Cuban off of Powers Ferry and Windy Hill, but largely ignored it for months. About three weeks ago, I decided to give it a try and boy was it worth it; set in an old Quiznos (Tacos la Villa style), this family run mini chain (they have another spot in midtown) cranks out traditional Cuban sandwiches at rock bottom prices!
You have a choice of a whole sandwich (~10 inches) or a half (~6 inches), on most items, along with beans and rice, plantains and chips as side items; they also have a good section of Cuban fruit drinks like toronja, mandarin, tamarind and materva. I would suggest getting two half sandwiches to experience more of their offerings; my favorites are the Mojo Pork, with Swiss cheese, mustard, pickles and jalapeno on Cuban bread:
And the Media Noche with an addition of ham and roasted pork:
Of course there’s always the traditional Cuban, with ham, pork, pickles and mustard on fresh cooked Cuban bread…and all of these sandwiches are grilled up toasty using a panini press…umm toasty!
The Crazy Cuban is cranking out some high quality “fast food” Cuban at great prices (a half sandwich for less than $4!) both ITP and OTP and are definitely worth the quick stop in to get your Cuban fix!
